During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s ‘Jesse Watters Primetime,’ Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem criticized the Congressional members who were involved in an assault on law enforcement officers amid a tumultuous confrontation outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, NJ.
It was previously reported that Newark Mayor Ras Baraka had been arrested for trespassing and that Representative LaMonica McIver was filmed assaulting federal agents. Nevertheless, Secretary Noem appeared to imply that the other lawmakers implicated in the incident, both of whom are Democrats, also engaged in assaults against law enforcement personnel.
Initiating her critique of the Democrats involved in the incident, Secretary Noem asserted that rather than exercising ‘oversight’ as they purport, they were involved in ‘atrocious’ criminal activities. She stated, ‘This was not oversight. This constituted the commission of felonies. This involved targeting individuals who uphold the rule of law. It was utterly reprehensible.’
Continuing her remarks, Noem reiterated her accusations against them for committing ‘acts of violence.’ She also pointed out that the undocumented individuals in the detention center were charged with serious offenses, stating, ‘I cannot comprehend how they behave in this manner and subsequently justify it. Furthermore, they are perpetrating these violent acts to release individuals from detention centers who are rapists, murderers, and members of foreign terrorist organizations that have been victimizing our communities in the United States.’
Expanding on this issue, Noem emphasized that the individuals they are protecting are dangerous and could result in additional victims, stating, ‘What is their intention? To reintegrate these individuals into society, potentially creating more cases like Laken Rileys and Jocelyn Nungarays? I fail to comprehend their rationale. They appear to have completely lost their sanity.’
She remarked that it is unacceptable for those who assaulted the agents to be permitted to assume leadership roles, stating, “It is astonishing to me that anyone would cast a vote for individuals who engage in such hypocritical and criminal behavior as these individuals have.”
In conclusion, Noem urged Congress to remove them from their committees, stating, “I trust that the other members of the House of Representatives will ensure they are held accountable. They should not be permitted to serve on their current committees — in fact, one of them (McIver) is meant to oversee ICE, yet she is instead attacking them.” She further remarked, “They are unworthy of their positions in the House and should face censure from it.”
