Slow Cooker Applesauce

Ingredients :

  • 10 large apples I used Golden Delicious
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg

Instructions 

  • Peel, core and cut apples into quarters.
  • Place in slow cooker, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, water, lemon juice and nutmeg over apples. Toss to combine.
  • Cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • When apples are soft use a potato masher or fork to break up any large chunks. If you want a smooth applesauce use an immersion blender or let the apples cool and place into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Store in refrigerator in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
