Ingredients

For the Chicken Paprikash:

  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or lard
  • 1 whole chicken (cut into pieces) or 6–8 bone-in thighs/drumsticks
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (optional but traditional)
  • 1 tomato, chopped (or ½ cup canned tomatoes)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour (for thickening)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For the Dumplings (Nokedli):

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup water (or as needed)
  • ½ tsp salt
